Cleaning the Lint from a Whirlpool Dryer

I recently got called out to a Whirlpool dryer that hadn’t been cleaned in two years. The client didn’t use it much during that time, but when I opened it up, I was surprised by how much lint had built up inside. Even with light usage, lint accumulates, and if it’s left unchecked, it can cause serious issues.

Checking for Buildup

After two years of minimal use, I found a surprising amount of lint packed inside the vent and drum areas. Lint buildup is one of the most common reasons dryers lose efficiency and even pose a fire risk.

Deep Cleaning the Lint System

I unplugged the dryer, removed the vent hose, and cleared out the lint using a vacuum and a vent brush. I also cleaned inside the drum area, where more lint had accumulated. This kind of deep cleaning helps the dryer run efficiently, improves drying times, and reduces the risk of overheating.

Testing the Dryer

Once everything was cleaned and reassembled, I ran a short cycle to make sure the dryer was working perfectly. The airflow was much stronger, and the machine was running like new!

If you haven’t had your dryer cleaned in a while, it’s a good idea to schedule a professional lint cleaning. Not only does it improve dryer performance, but it also helps prevent potential hazards and extends the lifespan of your appliance. Don’t wait—get your dryer cleaned today!
