Samsung Refrigerator – Noise from the Fridge Section

The Problem

The customer reported a loud scraping noise coming from the refrigerator section of a Samsung unit. After inspection, we found one of the most common Samsung refrigerator issues — ice buildup on the right side of the upper evaporator cover.

As the ice forms around the evaporator, the fan motor blades start hitting the ice, creating a grinding or rattling noise. This also causes uneven cooling and fluctuating temperatures inside the fridge.

The Fix

We defrosted the entire evaporator area, removed the ice buildup, and confirmed that the fan motor was still functional. To prevent the problem from returning, we installed an additional heater kit designed to improve defrost efficiency in this model.

After reassembly and testing, the refrigerator cooled properly, the noise disappeared, and the temperature in both sections stabilized.

The Result

The fridge now runs quietly and maintains proper cooling performance. Installing the heater modification helps prevent future frost accumulation — a reliable long-term solution for this known Samsung issue.
