GE Heat Pump Dryer Sealed System Leak Diagnosis

The customer reported that the dryer was running but not drying clothes properly. During diagnosis, we discovered that the sealed system had been accidentally damaged while the condenser coils were being cleaned. A refrigerant line had been punctured, causing a refrigerant leak and preventing the heat pump system from operating correctly.

Our inspection confirmed a sealed system failure requiring refrigerant line repair, sealed system service, evacuation, and refrigerant recharge. Due to the cost of the repair, the customer ultimately decided not to proceed.

This case highlights the importance of proper maintenance procedures on modern heat pump dryers. Attempting repairs or deep cleaning without the proper tools and experience can result in costly damage to components that are expensive to repair or replace.
